Our G2 test routes have been updated using real visits from Drive Test centers across Ontario. While minor deviations can happen due to traffic or road construction, mastering these core paths ensures you are completely familiar with the local neighborhood. What to Expect on Test Day The Ontario G2 road test lasts approximately 20 minutes, focuses on fundamental city driving and parking skills, and does not include highway driving. Examiners evaluate your performance based on vehicle control, situational awareness, speed management, and observation habits. Core Skills Evaluated Observation: Check your mirrors every 5 to 8 seconds. Use exaggerated head and shoulder movements when changing lanes or turning so the examiner can clearly see your checks. Intersections: Come to a complete stop behind the stop line or sidewalk at all red lights and stop signs. Scan left, right, and left again before moving, and always yield to pedestrians. Speed Control: Keep your vehicle at or slightly under the posted speed limit. Remember to reduce your speed in school zones and practice smooth, consistent acceleration. Maneuvers: Be prepared to demonstrate parallel parking, a three-point turn, roadside emergency stops, and hill parking (either uphill or downhill) with the proper wheel orientation.
